Our Style

For those who truly want the warmth of traditional farmhouse kitchen!

Easy to Install and Easy to Live with!

The look we offer is the warm farmhouse style planking found across the country in old kitchens and colonial homes in years past. We hand cut the edges of each plank and add some distressing using 18th century tools. To further add to the charm, we offer our kitchen top planks in a rustic grade with saw marks, knots, sap lines, and unique grains that produce an extremely pleasing look in rich tones.

By adding the handcut edges you will not notice the inevitable marks made by years of use. Anyone who has had a granite countertop that chipped knows how noticeable marks are on a "perfect" surface.

Any homeowner with minimal woodworking skills can install these planks in a few hours. The countertop shown above was installed on a Saturday in time for dinner!

Our Wood

We offer handcrafted, prefinished Cherry, in a rustic grade, for kitchen or bathroom countertops.

Cherry Rustics

These planks are solid 3/4" hardwood kiln dried to less than 8% moisture content. Cut from the oldest part of the tree, they have fantastic markings including knots, sap lines, insect discolorations, water marks and unique graining. Because of the character of the wood and our distressing, any marks and scrapes from years of use will not stand out on these planks.

Our Finish

Our European Natural Oil Finish is one of the most beautiful and environmentally safe finishes in the world.   This oil is a micro-porous finish that penetrates and becomes part of the wood.  It is not a wear coat and therefore cannot chip, crack or peel.

Imported from Germany, where strict environmental standards have been in place for decades, this hard-wax oil consists of thistle oil, sunflower oils, natural vegetable oils, carnauba wax, candallila wax and special hardeners.  On unstained wood it ages to a beautiful deep color that resists stains, wine, alcohol, and water.

It is as hard as polyurethane yet never needs complete refinishing. More accurately, it only requires occasional maintenance which includes easy application of a cleaner wax or the original hardwax oil if necessary to restore the original finish to new condition.

It can be spot repaired perfectly and easily.

It's so good we offer a lifetime warranty against chipping ,peeling or cracking.

Installation

How does This Work?

Very simply, our planks are meant to resurface an existing Formica (or new plywood base) countertop. They are easily installed, easy to maintain and incredibly beautiful.

We provide the installation kit, complete instructions, and phone support (my personal cell number) to answer any questions you may have during installation.

This is definitely a Do-It-Yourself project for anyone with limited woodworking skills. Or, your local contractor can install them for you.

What's required?

Care & Maintenance

As with any countertop, wipe up spills, etc with a damp sponge or cloth. Because it is wood, avoid harsh chlorine based cleaners, or use them sparingly.

Occasionally, apply a coat of the cleaner wax to protect the surface and clean any stubborn stains. This is as easy as wiping the countertop with a sponge.

When you want to freshen the surface apply a coat of the oil. Takes minutes and the top looks like new.

Cuts, dings, etc add to the character of the countertop and aren't that noticeable because of the distressed style of the planks.
